Jay Z Not Giving Up On Tidal Yet

Jay Z is not giving up on Tidal just yet. The music streaming service has launched a new app for MAC and PC desktops. It is also offering students a 50% discount in an attempt to attract users from other services

Tidal the company purchased earlier this year by Jay Z was relaunched in March with a star -studded event in New York City. Jay many of his music friends make appearances including Kanye West, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Jack White, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, Rihanna, Daft Punk and Beyonce, among others.

Even though Jay Z has been able to get some of the worlds biggest stars onboard to offer exclusive releases on the service; it has been a bumpy ride. Tidal has been the target of much criticism since it was launched. A lot of musicians, including, Mumford & Sons, Steve Albini, and Lily Allen, see Tidal as a vanity project for Jay Z and think the payment model will favor major label artist.

Noel Gallagher, of Oasis fame, accused the founding stars of Tidal for mistaking themselves for The Avengers.

When Martin Lorentzon, co-founder of Spotify, was recently asked what he felt about Tidal adding more competition for his own streaming service he stated: “I have 99 problems but Jay Z isn't one."
