Star Trek's Nichelle Nichols Suffers Stroke

Lt. Uhura form Star Trek, Nichelle Nichols has suffered what is believed to be a mild stroke Wednesday night. She appears to be doing well after a series of test at a local hospital.

Nichols rep, Zach McGinnis wrote on her Facebook page that Nichols "is currently undergoing testing to determine how severe the stroke was. Please keep her in your thoughts." The tests appear to have gone well later on Thursday McGinnis wrote:

Nichelle Nichols has had both a CAT scan and an MRI today. The CAT scan came back negative and we are awaiting the results from the MRI. Currently she is awake, eating, in good spirits and able to have full conversations. Her right side has shown minor signs or mobility loss but she is not showing any signs of paralyses.

We greatly appreciate all of the love and support her fans are showing at this time.

Nichols became famous as Lt. Uhuru on the original Star Trek TV series, which ran from 1966 through 1969. She reprised her role in the Star Trek films all the way up to the reboot. She has also appeared in Gargoyles and Futurama on TV and play Nana Dawson on the hit NBC show Heroes.
